Columbia Restaurant

WHERE TO EAT IN SARASOTA

Columbia Restaurant has a back story as rich and satisfying as its Cuban sandwiches and cafe con leche or sangria! Founded in 1905 by Cuban immigrant Casimiro Hernandez Sr., the original Columbia in Tampa’s Ybor City has been recognized as Florida’s oldest restaurant, remaining in the Hernandez/Gonzmart family now through five generations.

Opened in 1959, the St. Armands restaurant serves Cuban and Spanish cuisine in a classy setting that recalls Old Florida. They have a large dining room as well as splendid sidewalk seating. It’s not uncommon to wait for a table due to popularity, make a night of it.
