FAQ

What is the difference in the offshore charters you offer?

The 4-hour offshore charter is a fast-paced experience where we will travel up to 10 miles out for local varieties. You can expect to catch Grouper, Barracuda, Kingfish, Grey Snapper, and Tripletail.

The 6-hour offshore charter resembles the 4 hour trip, but at a more leisurely pace. Up to 30 miles offshore focused on Grouper, Barracuda, Kingfish, Grey and Lane Snapper, and Tripletail.

The 8-hour offshore charter allows us to go up to 50 miles and spend more time going after species like Amberjack, Yellowtail Snapper, Lane Snapper, Cobia, and Red Grouper.

The 10-hour trip will allow you travel up to 75 miles which gets you into cooler and deeper open ocean water where prized fish live. Best chances to catch Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Scamp Grouper, and African Pompano.

The 12 hour offshore trip is the day trip for true fisherman. We head out for up to 100 miles to catch bigger fish like Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, Yellow Edge Grouper, and Tilefish.

Try our flagship ‘Pelagic Quest’ 24 hour trip to the pelagic shelf to catch prized billfish like Swordfish, Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi, and Wahoo. Swords are more active at night, so we leave at 6pm and travel all night, fish all day, then return by 6pm for up to a 150 mile journey. This is the trip that will create lifetime memories.

All trips by default are offshore, and may be changed to ‘Pelagic Monsters’ for no additional charge. If this option is chosen, your focus is redirected to catching the infamous Goliath Grouper and various Sharks (Both catch and release). Monster trips are very exciting with big fights!

How far out will we go?

4 hour offshore trips up to 10 miles.
6 hour offshore trips up to 30 miles.
8 hour offshore trips up to 50 miles.
10 hour offshore trips up to 75 miles.
12 hour offshore trips up to 100 miles.
24 hour trips up to 150 miles.

What if the weather is too bad to go out?

We watch the weather very closely before every charter and while we are out. If the weather is too bad to go out,
we will notify our customers and allow them to reschedule or get a refund for their charter. Please see our cancellation policy.

Rain does not always stop us from going out. Unless we call and let you know the charter is cancelled or postponed, show
up at the scheduled time.

Is there a bathroom on board?

The Midnight Rider, our offshore vessel does have 1 head on board.

What should we bring?

Payment is due when the charter is booked. We accept all credit and debit cards as payment. We do not store your credit card information and all credit card transactions are encrypted for your safety.

Where do we meet?

920 John Ringling Causeway, Sarasota, FL 34326

Are we guaranteed to catch fish?

We have never been skunked! If we should not catch a single fish (not species specific), you will receive a 50% discount on the next fishing adventure with Pelagic Color.

How many people can we bring on the boat?

Offshore: We offer a maximum of 6 passengers on our offshore charters.

Should I worry about seasickness?

Unfortunately, seasickness is always a possibility while deep-sea fishing. Weather is a big contributing factor and is out of our control. Each person has their own threshold of tolerance for rough seas, but we always lean towards taking precautionary measures.

Sea sickness can be induced by heavy alcohol consumption the night before a trip and while onboard.

Dramamine is our go-to seasickness preemptive measure. If you do have a tendency to experience motion sickness we suggest taking Dramamine 1-2 hours before boarding our vessel. We will have additional remedies on board as a safeguard.

Do you offer split charters?

We believe the best experience is a purely private charter with you and your closest friends or family. Because of that, we do not offer split charters. Our charters are the same price no matter the number of people on the boat.
